CapeStars Limited has entered a five-year sponsorship agreement with Impakt Events Management to support the annual Sand Music Festival, in a partnership organisers say is intended to bolster Malawi's tourism sector.

Announcing the deal in Blantyre, CapeStars Director of Finance and Administration Rachael Mijiga said the investment was aimed at supporting tourism development, stimulating economic growth and helping to position Malawi as a more attractive travel destination on the international stage.

Impakt Events Management chief executive Johnny Zembani Banda said the extended sponsorship arrangement would allow for improvements in the festival's overall quality over the coming years, while helping to draw a stronger calibre of performers, both from within Malawi and abroad.

Banda added that the partnership was expected to have a broader impact beyond the festival itself, strengthening the country's wider tourism and creative industries at a time when both sectors are being looked to as potential drivers of economic diversification.

The five-year commitment, running through to 2030, gives organisers a longer planning horizon than the festival has previously enjoyed, potentially allowing for more ambitious programming and infrastructure investment in future editions.
